Internet of Life: thesis result

internet of life thesis project

website: internetoflife.com

I did not plan for the website to look like this and have this content until March 29, 2008 with less than a month before the deadline. In 2006 I became interested in using the Internet as a means for connecting people more effectively, by projects, by interest, by proximity. It was on my mind ever since I came up with the idea and I spent a lot of time taking note of tools, features and objectives of a variety of websites. When my thesis year began in September 2007, I had already set standards so high for myself in delivering a final website that would function and serve a target. I spent the 8 months trying to really figure out what I was trying to design. I ran into dozens of other websites that I did not want to imitiate. I wanted to create something unique and effective.

I didn't get into the web design stage until the last month. I spent most of my time reading articles, looking at business strategies, connecting with people, sharing my idea, refining my plan and at the same time I was finding the missing pieces surrounding the Internet, social relationships and personal identity. I became more interested in questioning our extensions with digital communications and the language the Internet has created for connectivity of humanity. My ambition to complete a social network with unrealistic expectations transitioned to researching what is missing in society. Meanwhile I was executing TheStoreFront project, which took over my life as I made it closer to my thesis, which was really experimenting with identity and community.

My thesis was really just me.
An extension of me, I suppose, by taking advantage of school to achieve personal growth.
